What is Securmail?
AUS-IP's SecurMail service is essentially a mail security service designed to reduce the cost and security risks associated with SPAM, Virus infected email and other unsolicited email threats and content. SecurMail offers multiple levels of SPAM and virus protection, along with our simple setup and management, which makes securing your organisations email system very simple and cost effective. With the constant increase of email bound viruses, you can no longer just rely on desktop anti-virus solutions to protect your IT Infrastructure. The ideal solution is to have your email protected from possible threats before it even gets to your PC's and network.
Inbound email - All inbound email being sent to your organisation is directed through our SecurMail servers. It is then processed for SPAM by referencing databases of known SPAM sources and databases of common SPAM associated keywords. The email is then scanned for viruses using 3 leading virus protection vendors - McAfee, Sophos and Symantec. Optionally your email can be scanned for inappropriate content, ie: Unacceptable language, specific attachment types as well as many other custom options as per your requirements. The email is stamped by SecurMail to let the recipient know it has been processed. Finally the email is relayed on to your nominated mail system for delivery. This can be either your own, mail server or your ISP / Domain Hosts.
Outbound email - Outbound email is sent directly from your existing email system to the SecurMail outbound mail processing servers. Here the email is scanned for viruses using the same 3 virus protection engines as above. Optionally your email can be scanned for inappropriate content, ie: Unacceptable language, specific attachment types as well as many other custom options as per your requirements. The emails are then stamped with your companies generic email disclaimer as well as a SecurMail stamp to once again notify the recipient that the email is safe.
Setup - Setup is fast and simple. After a short meeting with an AUS-IP sales representative, your domain name is setup on our SecurMail network with the appropriate rule sets as discussed in the meeting. Contact is made with your domain name host or ISP. They are instructed to make some minor changes to your domain name hosting details. Once complete your inbound mail is setup and will begin to be processed. Details are then supplied to your I.T. Administrator for the appropriate changes to be made on your network to enable all outbound mail to be processed by SecurMail. This can also be performed by AUS-IP's technical contractors if requested.
Email Archiving - As an optional service AUS-IP can archive all inbound and outbound email processed by SecurMail. These archives are recorded to CD or DVD and delivered to your premises for archival, storage or reference. In some circumstances archived email is required for legal purposes. For this reason each email is accompanied by a MD5 hash, providing proof that any archived email is an exact copy of the original email that was either sent or received.
SMS Email Notification - As another option, SecurMail can send SMS notifications to nominated mobile telelphone numbers when email messages arrive. This can be beneficial for many apllications. For example, Companies with after hours on-call services that receive their service requests via email can have an SMS Alert sent to them immediately, notifying them than a new email has arrived. The email itself can also be SMS'd although size and content restrictions do apply. |
