What is the cloud?

Cloud computing in it’s newest form is the next evolution in internet services. Cloud computing is a networking solution in which everything from computing power and storage through to infrastructure and applications are delivered as a service via the internet.

The “cloud” – in cloud computing can be defined as computer hardware, networks, storage, services, and interfaces that are combined to deliver aspects of computing as a service.

Cloud services – include the delivery of software, infrastructure, and storage over the Internet, either as separate components or a complete platform.

Elasticity – is one major benefits of cloud computing. The cloud is used to deliver computing as a service, therefore one of the primary architecture criteria is scalability. This gives the ability to increase or decrease capacity and or processing power, based on an individual users or organisations demand without the need for the end user to invest in IT assets and maintenance.

Cloud computing can completely change the way organisations use technology to service their IT needs. Cloud computing can eliminate many of the complex constraints from the traditional computing environment, including space, time, power, and support costs.

AUS-IP Services have been offering cloud computing services since 1996. We opened the Cloud Computing suite of offerings with SecurMail, a cloud based email content filtering solution for business email.
